In-house In-focus In-person 2027 Illustration
Character-led illustration for a creative community
I worked with UnderConsideration to create illustrations for In-house In-focus In-person 2027, a conference celebrating in-house design, communication and brand teams. The work puts the people behind those teams at the centre, bringing their personalities and everyday creative lives into the event’s visual identity.
Client: UnderConsideration
Project type: Event illustration
Role: Illustrator
Usage: Event website and digital identity
Focus: Celebrating the people behind in-house creativity
Brief: Create an illustrated community that reflects the variety of people and experiences within in-house creative teams.
The work needed to feel:
Full of personality and human detail
Welcoming to people across different creative roles
Connected as a collection, with distinctive individual characters
The challenge was to represent a professional community while giving the people within it a life and personality of their own.
The illustrations needed to:
Hold together in a busy, collective composition
Have enough character to work individually
Sit comfortably alongside the event’s typography and information
I built the collection around people, using clothing, gestures and small everyday details to give each character their own identity. Laptops, sketchbooks and conversations sit alongside coffee cups, headphones, plants and moments of downtime.
Those details give viewers something to recognise. Together, the characters suggest the different ways people think, work and contribute to a creative team.
A shared palette of greens, yellow and orange brings the collection together, while the hand-drawn linework keeps it loose and approachable.
I wanted people to spot a little of themselves, or someone they work with, in the illustrations.
The illustrations now feature across the website for the 2027 event, appearing as a crowded creative community and as individual moments within the page.
Together, they give the event a lively, people-focused presence, reflecting the community it brings together and the personalities behind the work.
